I was 26. I just had my 3rd baby. It was St. Patrick’s Day. She was 7 days old. AND I WAS DRIVING TO THE SALON TO WORK., I had been a hairstylist for 8 years. I had just jumped into independent salon ownership (booth rent) and I was busy trying to build my clientele. I couldn’t afford to take time off. I had bills at the salon and at home that required my income. I didn’t think twice. I just put my head down and got to work, 3 weeks later I was working FULL TIME+ hours to maintain our family of 5. Sure, my husband works, but My income was necessary to get by. Life continued to get busier. I missed out on more and more and just wasn’t happy. Hair has always been my passion but in order to have the success I wanted, I believed I had to be at the salon whenever my clients wanted me there. I believed I had to do the services people asked me to do. Then I found extensions and my world was flipped upside down. Fast forward 6 years to today. I have finally realized that no matter what services you choose to offer or the times that work for you, every stylist absolutely gets to choose how their career looks. We can be home with our kids. We can be seen as professionals. We can be proud of our careers. We can make a difference. We can be the best version of ourselves. I learned the secret to having my dream career. I make multiple 6 figures while not working any nights or weekends-I take my kids to school AND pick them up-and it had nothing to do with the services I offered and EVERYTHING to do with the experience I gave. I am passionate about the hair industry. I believe that every stylist deserves to create their dream career path while clients get to enjoy an experience they never dreamt was possible. My mission is to empower others in the art of hair while I educate and inspire fellow hairstylists to carve their path to their version of their dream career.
